Furniture Restoration
Specialist conservation and restoration of antique and historic furniture, undertaken with sensitivity, craftsmanship and respect for the original piece.
Charles Perry Restorations provides specialist conservation and restoration of antique and historic furniture from all periods. Our experienced craftsmen combine traditional skills with modern conservation understanding, ensuring every piece is treated with care, sensitivity and respect for its original construction.
Whether working on a significant period cabinet, a decorative chair, an inherited table or a much-used family piece, our aim is always to stabilise, conserve and restore without losing the character that makes the object special. Work may be undertaken within our fully equipped St Albans workshop or, where appropriate, onsite for larger or more sensitive items.
Traditional Skills, Applied Thoughtfully
Furniture restoration demands more than technical ability alone. It requires judgement, restraint and a deep understanding of materials, construction and period detail. Our approach is always guided by the needs of the individual piece rather than a formula.
Whether the work involves stabilising a structure, reviving decorative surfaces or carefully remaking missing elements, our objective remains the same: to preserve the authenticity and lasting value of the furniture while allowing it to be appreciated and used for years to come.
Specialist Furniture Services
From structural cabinet repairs to delicate veneer and inlay work, our furniture restoration covers both the practical and decorative elements of historic pieces. We also undertake carving and turning, cane and rush work, and bespoke creations where missing or damaged elements need to be remade with care.
Where necessary, we can address woodworm and rot treatment to support the long-term stability of a piece, and CITES compliance work may also be considered where relevant to the restoration. Each project is approached individually, with the objective of preserving integrity, appearance and function while remaining faithful to the original character of the furniture.
